Hi! My name is Megan, and I’m a college student who likes to write, make pie, read good books, drink hot chocolate, parler français, watch movies with British actors in them, people-watch, and look up random facts like “why do people hiccup?”*.
I decided to start this blog as a way to force myself to write more often, about whatever I feel like writing about. On August 8th, 2015 I embarked on an epic journey to make all 56 pies featured in Mrs. Rowe’s Little Book of Southern Pies, and it has been a blast so far!
*Just in case you’re interested…according to medicalnewstoday.com, people sometimes hiccup because of a disturbance in the nerve pathway from the brain to the muscles. But what purpose do they serve? No one is entirely sure, but according to an article I found on BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/2730251.stm) it may be because our ancestors had gills- it turns out that gill respiration in tadpoles and hiccuping are very similar.
